GO North Medical Outreach 2026: Bringing Care, Building Hope.

Wa, Upper West Region, Ghana | October 2026
The GO North Medical Outreach 2026 has concluded in Wa, Upper West Region, after days of medical care, therapy, professional training, community engagement, and practical support for children with special needs and their families.
The outreach brought together doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals, therapists, educators, parents, volunteers, and partners with a shared commitment to improving access to healthcare and strengthening support for children with neurodevelopmental conditions.
Beyond providing medical services, this year’s outreach reaffirmed a simple but powerful belief: every child deserves the opportunity to receive appropriate care, develop their abilities, and live with dignity.
Medical Screenings, Consultations, and Therapy
A central part of the outreach was the provision of medical screenings, specialist consultations, and therapy sessions for children and families.
The medical team worked directly with children, assessing their needs and providing appropriate professional guidance and support. These services created opportunities for families to seek answers, better understand their children’s needs, and explore appropriate care and intervention.
For many families navigating neurodevelopmental conditions, access to specialised services and reliable information can be challenging. By bringing healthcare professionals and therapeutic support closer to the community, GO North sought to help bridge this gap.
Each consultation, screening, and therapy session reinforced the importance of early identification, appropriate intervention, and continued support for children and their caregivers.
Strengthening Knowledge Through Professional Training
Recognising that sustainable change requires more than a few days of medical services, GO North also organised a training session for doctors, nurses, other healthcare professionals, educators, and parents.
The session provided an opportunity to strengthen knowledge, share experiences, and promote a more informed and coordinated approach to supporting children with neurodevelopmental conditions.
Healthcare professionals play an important role in identifying developmental concerns and guiding families towards appropriate services. Educators also help children develop in learning environments, while parents and caregivers provide essential support at home.
Equipping these groups with relevant knowledge and practical skills is an important step towards building stronger support systems for children long after the outreach team has returned home.
Supporting St. Don Bosco Special School
One of the significant community engagements during the outreach was the visit to St. Don Bosco Special School in Wa.
During an earlier visit, the school leadership shared some of the institution’s challenges and needs with the team. The visit provided an opportunity to listen directly to the school’s concerns and identify practical ways to offer support.
In response, the GO North Medical Outreach team donated weaving looms, mattresses, mats, clothing, and school bags to the school.
The donations were intended to help address some of the needs identified by the school and support the students’ learning and living conditions.
The weaving looms also provide resources for the school’s practical activities, while the mattresses, mats, clothing, and school bags respond to other needs identified during the engagement.
This initiative reflects the broader vision of GO North: to listen to communities, understand their challenges, and respond in ways that extend beyond medical consultations.
Medication Support from Zutron Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
Access to appropriate medication and healthcare resources is an important part of supporting children and families.
As part of its contribution to the outreach, Zutron Pharmaceuticals Ltd. provided Brainwise, which the GO North team subsequently donated to St. Don Bosco Special School.
This contribution formed part of the wider effort to mobilise resources and respond to needs identified within the community.
GO North recognises the importance of collaboration with organisations that are willing to contribute to initiatives supporting children’s health and well-being. Any use of donated medication or health products should be guided by qualified healthcare professionals and appropriate clinical assessment.
Promoting Financial Literacy with Databank Foundation
The outreach also recognised the importance of financial knowledge in strengthening families and communities.
Databank Foundation came on board with financial literacy education, extending the outreach’s focus beyond healthcare alone.
Financial literacy equips individuals with knowledge that can help them make informed decisions about saving, budgeting, planning, and managing their resources.
For families navigating healthcare needs and other responsibilities, access to practical financial knowledge can be valuable. This contribution reflected the importance of a holistic approach to community development, where health, education, and financial well-being all have a place.
GO North appreciates Databank Foundation for contributing to this broader community engagement.
Appreciation to Our Medical Sponsors and Partners
The success of an outreach of this nature depends on the commitment of many people and organisations working together.
GO North Medical Outreach expresses its sincere appreciation to the organisations that supported the 2026 initiative, including:
- Ernest Chemists
- Pacific Diagnosis Ltd.
- Zutron Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
- Databank Foundation
Their contributions supported different aspects of the outreach, including medical sponsorship and financial literacy education.
We also appreciate the doctors, nurses, therapists, healthcare professionals, educators, volunteers, school authorities, parents, and community members who contributed their time, expertise, and resources.
Every contribution helped advance a shared mission of improving access to care and creating better opportunities for children and families.
Beyond the Outreach: The Work Continues
The conclusion of the outreach in Wa does not mark the end of the mission.
Children with neurodevelopmental conditions and their families need continued access to appropriate healthcare, therapy, education, information, and community support. Building these support systems requires long-term commitment and collaboration among healthcare providers, schools, families, government institutions, development organisations, and private-sector partners.
The experiences and engagements in Wa have reinforced the importance of listening to families, strengthening local capacity, responding to practical needs, and building partnerships that can sustain progress beyond individual outreach events.
GO North Medical Outreach remains committed to advancing a future where children receive the support they need and families have greater access to the information and services that can help them thrive.
We invite individuals, organisations, healthcare professionals, and potential sponsors to join us in this mission.
Whether through financial contributions, medical supplies, professional expertise, volunteering, training, or community partnerships, there are many ways to help extend the impact of this work.
Together, we can continue building a more inclusive future where every child matters.
GO North Medical Outreach 2026 — Together, we make care possible.
One child at a time. One family at a time. One community at a time.
